According one of the archaeologist from the City of Rome, Prof.ssa Rita Volpe, the famous statue of the 'Laocoonte', which now is housed in the Vatican Museum in Rome. According to the report in the Italian newspaper, the Il Messagero (30.11.2009), new Archivial research - "Archivio dei Notai Capitolini,"conducted by scholars from the City of Rome's Department of Archaeoloy and Fine Arts, has discovered the exact area of the original location of where the famous statue was originally discovered on the Oppian Hill in 1506. The area of the (then) the vineyards of Felice De Fredis, formerly the Baths of Trajan / the earlier ruins of the Domus Aurea of Nero.
The contemporay site in modern Rome, based upon new archivial research in the archives, show that former site of the discovery is the location of site as the: Suore di San Giuseppe di Cluny, in Via Mecenate 35 A.
